Well my goodness its been awhile. "Be careful what you wish for" has been the theme of my life of late. As my football mom gig at Reagan has finally come to a bittersweet close after four years, my concern that I wouldnt have enough to fill my days must have been heard by someone up high! We completed two massive renovations in Shavano Creek to close the year - one ours and one for an investor - and have already taken on three additional projects, with more scheduled to come online in the next few months.
The Shavano Creek renovations were absolutely amazing - one 5700 sq ft and one 6700 sq ft - and both were top to bottom refreshes. If you're not familiar, the homes in the City of Shavano Park on the Northwest side of San Antonio (just inside 1604 around NW Military/Lockhill Selma) are absolutely stunning custom homes on acreage, and fantastic mature live oaks abound on just about every lot. I would live there in a heartbeat if I was in a stage of life to have that kind of square footage!
I'm working on posting the galleries for those two homes. Both were completed around the end of the year and the design was Transitional. One was left slightly more Traditional - think walnut floors and a black/white palette on walls and doors - in order to take inspiration from the beautiful original railings and moldings throughout the space. The other leaned more "Modern Organic" with white oak flooring, warm stone accents and soft creamy cabinetry to play up the gorgeous natural light from massive windows everywhere. Both were a complete joy to watch come to life for their "second wind".
As our son finishes high school and waits impatiently to hear if his first choice of school is in the cards (Gig 'Em Ags - but hurry up please!), and our daughter is about to graduate from the University of Oregon and start her Master's, we continue to take on new projects and await what the future holds in this season of growth and change for our little family.
Our early 2026 projects have only "before" photos so I'll wait on posting those until we're finished. There are two of note currently and both have been very interesting "one-off" updates. The first is in Port Aransas, our first foray in that lovely beach town down I-37. A dark and dreary 80's custom home in a waterfront neighborhood is being transformed into a light and bright coastal stunner!
The other is in San Antonio and currently a bit of a "modern mess": a never-finished project in a fantastic Far North SA neighborhood that we'll get back on the right track for someone's perfect forever home. We're softening the sharp modern edges with a "Malibu Modern" palette that will be absolutely beautiful once complete.
